"Double Dutch Braid-Knotted Pony"

Hello Blog-Loving People!!!
How's everyone doing so far?
I hope everyone had a good day today.

Here is a new hairstyle we did. I'm not really sure though if this is really new. I mean, if you guys already know how to french braid or dutch braid, you will be able to re create other styles using these basics. So this is one of them. I call it the "DOUBLE DUTCH BRAID-KNOTTED PONYTAIL". Whew! Long name? LOL!

This is how it looks:

This is the back view of the said hairstyle....you can't see it clearly because of the flower clip, but the 2 braids' ends i pulled into a twist or a knot before i tied it to a ponytail.

To do this hairstyle, i just parted her hair in half or in the middle. Then on each side i did a dutch braid (you can also do a french braid if you want) just until the bottom hairline below the left ear. And just continue plaiting it and secure with an elastic.

Do the same thing here on the right side, as you did on the left side. So by now you have 2 braids, one on each side. Now take both the braids and pull them to a twist or a knot. Make sure it's tight. Then gather the remaining loose hair and the braids and tie it into a ponytail like this:

Then you could add up or accessorize it with pretty clips like big bows, flowers, or even ribbons, just to add some cuteness to it.

Just keeping it plain and simple i must say. But still turned out cute because of the accessory.

That's it for today folks.
Enjoy!
And thanks for dropping by!

"THE WOVEN TWISTS PIGGIES"

THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!!!
It's the end of the week, and almost the end of school year 2012-2013 (last day of school tomorrow)!

So how's your day going so far? This week for us was "exams week". My daughter started their FINALS EXAM yesterday and it will end tomorrow Saturday. And then, it's summer vacation time!!

Anyway, here is our featured hairstyle for today. We will call it the "WOVEN TWISTS PIGGIES". The original hairstyle is called "WOVEN PIGGIES" from my fave hair blog Princess Hairstyles or The Story of A Princess and Her Hair and this is how it looked like in her daughter's hair (the original photo):

Pic from http://www.princesshairstyles.com
It's like a combo hairstyle, consisting of  "twists", "weaves", and "piggies". This is how the finished hair style looked like on my daughter:

The first thing i did is to part the hair in the middle from front all the way down. Now make 2 rectangular boxes (parting the hair in rectangular shape) from the crown part of the head, one on each side.

Now make 3 parts on each of the rectangular boxes of hair, and each part you twist them going to the right. Now add this twist to the opposite side of the piggy.  If you twists first the left side, bring these hair twists to the right piggy.

Now the "weaving" part, do the same from the other hair part/box. but instead of putting them straight to the piggy, weave each one first to each strand that has been tied to the piggy already. You can go over-under-over on the first strand, then on the 2nd strand go under-over-under. Then do it on the last strand using the over-under-over.  It will now look like this:

Now you can just leave the ends of the piggies the way they are or you can put each piggies into a messy bun just like i did in the pic. Or you can also do a simple braid just to give it a different flare.

Ok, I know reading instructions is quite boring for some of you, but i am sorry to say that i have no video tutorial of my own for this hairstyle. But you can just learn it from Princess Hairstyles by clicking this link: http://www.princesshairstyles.com/ .

Hope you guys like it! Thanks for reading!

"More Hunger Games-Inspired Hairstyles"

The movie The Hunger Games shown last 2012 became so popular because of the characters' hairstyles!! Katniss Everdeen and Primrose Everdeen's braided hairstyles.

A lot of my fave hair blogs are posting tutorials of these 3 different hairstyles from the movie. It was from at CUTE GIRLS HAIRSTYLES that i learned these 3 hairstyles.

This is the first look i re-created based on Katniss Everdeen's  hairstyle in the arena:

And this is Primrose Everdeen's braided hairstyle in the movie:

And lastly, another Katniss Everdeen hairstyle. They call this one the "reaping braid" based on one of the scenes in the movie:

You can check out these video tutorial links if you want to try these hairstyles from Cute Girls Hairstyles:

"You Braid, You Weave - Woven French Braid Ponytail"

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

MONDAY....start of another school week!

Since it's the last Monday of school week for the month of March, my daughter wanted to do a hairstyle we saw from http://www.princesshairstyles.com/ , it's called the "woven french braid ponytail". Here's how it looks like:

back view

So, i watched the video tutorial Sunday and studied it and i even practiced doing it at first using my daughter's BRATZ head doll mannequin. Look:

watching Kori's video tutorial, see on my computer monitor??

the "BRATZ" head doll i practiced on!!

So, to be able to do this hairstyle, we have to wake up early Monday morning. There are like 4 components to do this hairstyle. There's knotting, braiding, weaving, and a ponytail. And it's best to do this with a damp hair.

So this is how it looked like, our finished product:

this is the back view
to make it more pretty we added a cute flower clip

here is the view from the left side

another view, from the right side

It was almost perfect!! I hoped Kori likes it. :)

So off to school she went, my daughter. And come afternoon, when she came home she told me she got some nice comments from her classmates too.

On my FB, i posted this pic too. And i got a lot of likes and nice comments. Whew!! Guess i did a pretty good job "re-creating" a hairstyle from Kori's blog The Story of A Princess & Her Hair. I really love all their hairstyles there. And i really was inspired to start doing beautiful hairstyles for my daughter when i saw her blog. So guys check it out too!! Be inspired too!!

Anyway, for you guys to be able to do this, here is the video tutorial:

Hope you like it guys!!!
Thanks!

"The Ribbon or Shoelace Braid"

Hello blog readers!!! How are you all doing today? I hope all of you are having a great day!!

I'm sharing with you guys now another hairstyle i saw on my fave hair blogs. I've been wanting to do this for a long time. And finally i was able to do it.

This is what they call the "RIBBON BRAID" or the "SHOELACE BRAID".

This hairstyle is super easy to do. All you have to do is part the hair into two. Then you make either a dutch or french braid on each side.

After making the braids, you get some colorful ribbons of your choice, put them in some crafting needles or, like i did, i used the topsy tail tool as my needle and you kinda sew the ribbon on the braids.

Use your imagination......it's like, how do you tie your shoelaces?? Then you will know how to sew them to the hair.

In the hair blogs i follow, they only sew the hair halfway through the braids and just let the tails of the braids hang the way they are. But here, i sew the ribbons all the way to the ends so it makes it look like a ponytail.

I made another version of  this hairstyle but instead of a ponytail ending, i made it into pigtails or piggies.

Here, i made a part in the middle. On each side i made 2 dutch braids. Then i sew a ribbon on each side. But i only sew the ribbon up to the ear level of the braids. The 2 dangling braids on each side i gathered and tied with hair accessories.

If you like this hairstyle, check out also these hair blogs in their versions of this hairstyles:
